THE PROCESS

A plan to build a brand.

Our approach varies across the different projects – and of course no two clients are the same. Yet we’re often asked “How much will it cost?” right out of the gate. That’s a big question that takes a bit more understanding to properly answer.

Below is an overview of the stages that a project typically follows.

STAGE 1 : PROPOSAL

Once you contact me about your project, we’ll schedule a quick meeting to go over your needs, timeline, scope and your target budget, and I’ll follow up with a proposal and contract. A standard 50% deposit is required to begin, with the balance due when the project is completed. We can discuss other payment options if needed.

New web, e-com, site redesign projects requiring extensive planning

For new web and e-com projects, we’ll schedule a longer discussion to fully understand your business. We’ll go over your goals, ideal customers, go-to-market strategy, and how your site will play into your business plan.

For site redesigns, we’ll get a clear understanding of your current site’s strengths and weaknesses along with any integrations, apps, and processes already in place that need to be included in the new site. We’ll also address your current site’s health to see what needs to be fixed and improved when the new site launches.

Armed with that info, we’ll put together a proposal that recommends the best platform to build your site with as well as the 3rd party tools and integrations you’ll need. The end result of this is a actionable plan we’ll use to move forward.

This engagement costs $1,200

STAGE 2 : DISCOVERY

Research is critical in any project. In this phase, we get a sense of how your company will be positioned, your competitors, and what will make you different.

Mood boards are combined with this info to build a roadmap of the project before any concepts are created.

We’ll refer to the info we collect here throughout the design process (sorry, we can’t skip this phase).

STAGE 3 : CONCEPT

Deliverables in this phase vary depending on the project. It may be logo concepts, wire framed pages of your site, or page layout concepts of your print piece.

For an identity project I’ll create a variety of concepts and directions that match the criteria of the discovery phase. Often times, I’ll create quick mockups of supporting items like home pages and include some imagery that fits the direction to give us a deeper look. Concepts are presented over a video chat and provided as a pdf.

STAGE 4 : REFINEMENT

From the presented directions, we’ll take 3 and bring them to the next phase - refinement. This phase is exactly what it sounds like. I’ll refine, add color, and bring earlier concepts closer to life.

The refinement phase includes 3 rounds of revisions, with additional time billed hourly.

STAGE 5 : START THE PRESS OR <go live!>

Once you sign off on the final direction, I’ll build all the assets and files you need. If you’ve included a style guide (a pdf that included the bigger picture of type selections, color palette, logo usage, photo style) will be created. This is a valuable tool to make sure your brand stays consistent.
